Database for social housing projects

With the launching of Woonbeeld, the new database of social architectural projects, the VMSW takes a step forward to making knowledge of the social housing sector accessible.

For the past eleven years the VMSW has published a printed architectural annual. This year, we’ve taken the extra effort of offering a digital overview of the realized VMSW and SHM projects.  So there is now a complete architectural inventory of the social housing sector available. Through the complete and comprehensive information concerning social housing projects available via the Internet and in the form of the database, the VMSW strives to promote study, research and comparison of social housing projects on various levels. These instruments not only  serve the SHMs themselves, but also the municipalities, architects, researchers, architectural students and all interested parties.

Searching for projects is based on many identifying criteria. These criteria are assigned to the various projects, based upon the specific information available from the VMSW. We are, of course, open to additional information concerning these projects (see Contact).

In the construction of Woonbeeld we have invoked the help of the SHMs and their designers for the collages and photos. This collaboration was an outstanding success, for which we offer our deepest gratitude. The collages submitted were not altered, but integrated into the system in their original form. For those projects for which no collage was submitted, the VMSW created them  itself. The VMSW itself provided the coordination and editing of content for Woonbeeld.

It is our greatest wish that Woonbeeld will continue to inspire many people so that the social housing sector can perform a pioneer role for the years to come.
